St. Hilda's Church

Headstone, early-mid C19. Tall pink sandstone slab with shaped
top and narrow raised border. Commemorates members of a seagoing
family, mostly young men who were drowned or died in foreign parts;
deaths from 1825-1837; John aged 22:

I've gained my Post and am at ease
Escaped the dangers of the seas
My Dangers past my troubles oer
Safe landed on a milder shore.
