If you go on google Maps ,and then click on Satellite, and zoom in on the farm buildings on the opposite side of the Lane to Baysdale Abbey, its possible to imagine that the bigger of these buildings is built within the remains of a church.I can't find any reference to
any research as the exact site and layout of the priory. It seems to be assumed it stood where the "abbey" building now is.Is it the case that this hidden valley is so far off the map that development has taken place without archaeological research.Seems essential that the area is surveyed with a magnetometer. One would only have to pick up part of the priory to lay the rest out (there is a full description with measurements extant). The main business of the priory was looking after recalcitrant nuns, who were removed there away from the temptations of the real world, and to remove their bad attitude.Pevsner didn't find the valley.
