6/55 Tuscan Temple
4.1.55 (Formerly listed under

Temple in grounds of Duncombe Park (qv). c1730 in Palladian style.
Sandstone ashlar, lead roof. Circular peripteral plan. Tuscan columns
on stepped podium. 6 fielded-panel door. 3 sash windows with glazing
bars. Plain frieze and moulded cornice. Low drum with circular window
with radial glazing bars. Cornice. Hemispherical dome. Interior: door
and windows in bead and egg and dart moulded frames and shell-niches
between. Broken scroll pediment above door supports 2 putti holding a
medallion. Coffered ceiling with 2 putti holding a garland in the
