10/82 Town Hall


Town hall. 1901, in Queen Anne style. By Temple Moore. Sandstone
ashlar, plain tiles, stone stacks, wooden lantern. U-shaped plan with
corn exchange and offices above to street front. 2 storeys, 5 bays.
Round-headed 6-panel door to right in moulded doorcase with moulded
jambs and rusticated archivolt, flanked by brackets for former balcony.
Corn exchange: 4 arches with half-glazed doors and corbelled-out
keystones supporting band above. First floor: four 2-light transomed
mullion windows and half-glazed doorway to former balcony to right.
Coved cornice. Hipped roof with stacks to rear wings. Central lantern
has round-arched windows and dentilled cornice surmounted by curved
