10/85 The Crown

Hotel. Probably mid C17 of 2 builds with C20 alterations. Whitewashed,
rendered limestone rubble, pantile roof, brick stacks. 2 storeys and
attic, 3 bays. Left section breaks forward to right of first window.
To right: 6-fielded-panel door, with top 2 panels glazed, in doorcase of
fluted pilasters carrying open pediment. To left a C20 casement and a
2-light Yorkshire sash, both beneath projecting lintels. First floor:
2-light Yorkshire sashes. Pulvinated moulding below eaves level to
right section. Attic: central 2-light Yorkshire sash dormer flanked by
casement dormers and 1 C20 skylight. End stack and ridge stack.
Interior contains richly carved C17 panelled doors.
