Garden Pavilion. Late C17, with C19 exterior staircase. Sandstone, with
rusticated ashlar quoins; slate roof. Square on plan. 2-storeys. Half-
glazed and panelled door, approached by a later staircase, to upper storey,
in a frame with quoined jambs and a blank cartouche above. C19 plank floor
with strap hinges to lower storey, under a flat-headed rusticated lintel
with a blank cartouche and dropped keystone. All windows have plate-glass
lower sash with 12-pane sash above. Moulded band at first floor level.
Cyma recta cornice to tall, swept, pyramidal roof. Interior: in the upper
room, the C17 decorated ceiling survives consisting of a mythological
figurative painting encircled by a moulded plaster garland of fruit and
flowers, with winged cherub heads in the corners. In the lower room,
tongue-stopped chamfered beams remain.
