- II
House and smithy; now house. Late C17 - early C18, raised later; smithy
incorporated into house during C20 remodelling. Squared stone to front,
raised in dressed stone; coursed rubble and re-used stone to left gable
wall; right gable wall in variegated brick in stretcher bond; pantile roof
and brick stacks. Originally 3-cell hearth-passage plan with smithy at end
right and outshut to rear. 2-storey, 2-window high end to left of 2-storey,
single-window low end. C20 stable door to low end, to left of 2-light, 12-
pane horizontal-sliding sash. 2-light, 8-pane casement above. Windows to
high end are 2-light, small pane casements. All openings have painted
timber lintels. Uncarved datestone over ground-floor window to right of
high end. End stacks to high end; end right stack to low end. Interior:
chamfered and stopped beams and square section joists throughout ground
floor. In ground-floor room to low end are 2 cupboards with plank doors on
H-L hinges.
