House. c1820 with alterations of 1973 by Francis Johnson. Brick in Flemish
bond, Westmorland slate roof. T-shaped on plan with central-hallway entry
and small additional bay window extension to garden to left. 2 storeys, 3
bays. Steps to half-glazed door beneath overlight with diamond motif
glazing, in fluted Doric door-case, flanked by shallow bays with cornices
containing curved 16-pane sash windows. First floor: sashes with glazing
bars beneath cambered brick arches. Paired gutter brackets. Hipped roof
with stack rising through rear pitch. Interior: staircase, with plain
square-section balusters, on oval plan. Dado, frieze and door-cases to
drawing room all have bead motif.
