House. Late C18 - early C19. Hammer-dressed sandstone, Westmorland slate
roof. Central entry now altered. 3 storeys, 3 bays. Door replaced by 12-
pane fixed window beneath fanlight in round-arched door-case with square-
section fluted pilasters flanked by 16-pane sashes, each with fixed 8-pane
panel below. First and second floors: 16-pane sashes. Flat brick arches
throughout. Paired consoles at eaves level support drainpipe. Gable
coping, shaped kneelers, end stacks. Interior: fine open-string staircase
with carved tread ends, square-section balusters and decorative openwork
beneath handrail. Fluted door-frames with rosettes to corners and 6-
fielded-panel doors to principal rooms. Main bedroom has fluted fire
surround containing basket grate decorated with swags. H-L hinges to attic
doors.
