Miller's house, now 2 dwellings. 1778 on datestone; C19 alteration,
extension and subdivision; further alterations in C20. Herringbone-tooled
sandstone with pantile roof. 2-cell direct-entry plan with opposed doors;
later extensions to left, right and to rear. 2-storey, single-window front
with projecting, gabled porch to centre; lower 2-storey, single-window
extension with lean-to outbuilding to right; single-storey extension to
left. 4-panel door to No 1 in projecting porch, within raised round-arched
surround with blind Gothick fanlight, approached by stone steps. 6-pane
fixed light in porch to left of door. Datestone over, inscribed "W. R." (or
B) with incised shell between and date below, and with a shell carved in
high relief to each side. Board door to No 2 beneath divided overlight in
lean-to outbuilding to right. Ground-floor windows are 4-pane sashes; C20
top-hung window to first floor of main front and 2-light, large-pane
horizontal sliding sash to extension to right Coped gables and shaped
kneelers. End stacks to main roof and end right stack to right extension.
Left gable wall: fire window with herringbone-tooled lintel. Interior:
chamfered beams exposed throughout both floors of house. No 1 retains the
bressumer in room to left. Fine interior door to No 1 with bifurcated strap
hinges.
