11/80 Ashtrees
House and shop; now house. Late C18 with extension of 1932 and later C20
alteration. Dressed limestone on plinth with tooled sandstone quoins;
extension in squared sandstone; panel roof and rebuilt stacks. 2-storey, 2-
window front, with lower 2-storey, single-window wing to left, and 2-storey,
lean-to extension to right. 6-panel door to wing with unequal 12-pane sash
to left, both with thin timber lintels; squat 8-pane sash to first floor.
Windows to main front are tripartite 16-pane sashes, all with painted stone
sills and heavy tooled lintels. Cavetto-moulded eaves cornice. Coped
gables and shaped kneelers. End stacks and end left stack to wing.
Interior: ground-floor rooms retain shutters and window recess panelling of
raised and fielded panels. In room to right, plain stone fireplace in
timber architrave with a dentilled cornice shelf over a fluted frieze.
