House and mason's shop of 3 builds. Main house in 2 sections of mid C18
with earlier origins and mid C19 date; mason's shop late C19. Earliest
section to left, later section to centre and mason's shop to right. Early
section has outshut to rear continuous with Pelican Cottage (qv). Left
section: single storey and attic, one bay. Central section: 2 storeys, one
bay. Mason's shop single storey. To left: 4-panel door with recent bow
window to right and casement in gablet above. Centre: 16-pane sashes, that
to ground floor with chisel-tooled wedge lintel. Mason's shop: 2 boarded
openings. End stacks to central section. The early section of this house
formed the hall of a hall and cross wing house of which Pelican Cottage is
the cross wing. Included for group value. North Yorkshire and Cleveland
Vernacular Buildings Study Group Report Number 122.
