Entrance gates and gate piers approximately 180 metres west of Scampston Hall

Gates and gate piers. Early C19. Piers of rusticated sandstone and
sandstone ashlar; cast-iron gates. Gate piers of alternate bands of
vermiculate and smooth stone with shallow pilasters supporting scrolled
volutes at each side. Moulded cornices and ball-and-pedestal finials, the
balls encircled by square rusticated bands. Paired gates, the right one for
pedestrians, ramped up to piers: open spear-headed standards with half rail
of diagonal lattice work.
