4/56 Field building
Stable and loft. Mid-late C18. Pink-red brick in English garden wall bond
with sandstone dressings and pantile roof. 1 storey, 3 bays. Round-arched
doorway between round-arched window openings with moulded sills. Arches
have keystones and moulded imposts. Stepped, dentilled eaves cornice.
Coped gables and shaped kneelers. Right return has wide doorway with timber
lintel, and pitching window in gable end. Possibly the last survival of the
once extensive stud farm first established by Sir William
St Quintin, 4th Baronet, in 1730.
