10/16 Wall of cascade approximately
100 metres north of Ebberston
Middle cascade of water garden. c1718. For William Thompson, MP for
Scarborough. Dressed limestone. Stepped wall approximately 1.25 metres
high and 10 metres wide forming a dam to the canal behind it. Channelled at
each end. C Hussey, English Gardens and Landscapes, 1700-1750, 1967;
J Harris, Artist and the Country House, 1979. Ebberston Hall gardens are
listed grade II* in the Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic
Interest in England.
