6/11 Netherby House Farmhouse

Farmhouse. Early C19 incorporating part of C17 house. Roughly dressed
sandstone on plinth; pantile roof with rebuilt brick stacks. Central-
staircase plan, one room deep, with earlier part forming rear service wing.
2-storey, 3-window front with single-storey outbuilding to left. Centre C20
door. 16-pane sashes with painted stone sills throughout. Tooled wedge
lintels to all openings. Stepped brick eaves course. Coped gables and
shaped kneelers. End stacks. Interior: the massive spine beam with
chamfer-stopped joists survives from the earlier house, together with a
panelled door on cockshead hinges and a panelled partition enclosing the
back stairs. Ground-floor rooms to front have doors of 6 raised and fielded
panels, panelled shutters and alcove cupboards on H-L and butterfly hinges.
