6/15 The Hollies

GV II
House. Early C19 incorporating remains of C17 house to rear. Dressed
sandstone to front, coursed sandstone to sides and rear; ashlar lintels;
pantile roof with brick stacks. Central-stairhall plan, one room deep; C17
wing to rear. 2-storey, 3-window front. Central glazed door with overlight
in plain pedimented door-case. 16-pane sashes with stone sills and wedge
lintels throughout. End stacks rise through hipped roof. Interior: ground-
floor room to left has fluted architraves with paterae to the door and to
two segmental-arched alcoves. In the rear lobby a finely carved panelled
spice cupboard survives.
