GV II
Mill and millhouse; now 2 dwellings. 1790 on datestone but probably with
earlier origins; subdivided and extended in C20. Squared limestone on
limestone rubble plinth, with irregular quoins to first floor; brick eaves
course; variegated brick extension to rear in garden wall bond; pantile roof
with brick stacks. 2-storey, 3-window front to house, with 2-storey and
attic, 2-window front to mill to right. Central part-glazed door to house
beneath unequal 9-pane sash, with 20-pane sashes to either side. Painted
stone sills to all windows; painted flat arches to all openings except to
first-floor centre which has a lintel. To ground-floor right is the blocked
opening to the former wheel chamber. First-floor windows to mill are 16-
pane sashes with painted stone sills, C20 dormers to attic. Painted lintels
to ground and first-floor openings. Gable wall to left: pointed pivoting
window with small-pane glazing beneath pointed arch of voussoirs. Rear:
wide flat arch over altered door and window opening to mill with datestone
over. Coped gable and shaped kneeler to left of house; end stacks to house.
C20 extensions to rear not of special interest.
