Mid or late C19. Brown brick. Very wide and shallow-pitched slate roofs. Three
storeys, side elevations only 2-storey. Eleven bays long, plus a taller 3-bay block
at south end, with its roof ridge perpendicular to the main axis. Deep and wide area
south of this. Two loading doors in east elevation. North end elevation has 7 bays
on ground and first floor, and 5 bays on second floor: small segment-headed unglazed
openings with wooden casements. Central bay has loading door on first floor, and
timber pitched-roofed oriel on cast iron brackets on second floor: small opening in
gable. Furnace house with short tapering brick chimney of square plan at north-west
corner.
