Chest tomb of Mark
Smithson, at base of
Church Tower, to south


Chest tomb. Sandstone. late C18. Fluted pilasters at angles and centre of exposed
side; cornice. 2 oval sunk panels with inscriptions commemorating Mark Smithson of
Aldborough d.1789, a benefactor of St Andrews Chruch, and his wife. The latter
inscription is rather worn.
