Vicarage, now house. 1854. By William Butterfield for Viscount Downe
of Baldersby Park. Snecked stone with ashlar dressings. Tile roof.
2 storeys, irregular fenestration. Entrance front: slightly projecting
gabled wing contains pointed-arched entrance and window with Geometric
tracery. Otherwise 1- and 2-light ogee and trefoil headed mullion
windows with sashes, in stone surrounds. Left return has canted bay to
left with 6- and 8-pane wooden sashes and timber-framing to first floor,
under half-hipped gable. Main chimney has slightly protruding stack
rising through gable wall to left of entrance, a second chimney in the
centre of the rear roof slope. Both are stepped, with ashlar bands and
truncated pyramidal flues. Interior: original cupboards, panelling,
doors and banisters remain, some with painted decoration. There is an
open screen of vertical wooden bars at the foot of the stairs.
