10 metres north of
Farnley Hall

Archway. Lintel dated 1624. Coursed squared gritstone. Shallow pointed
arch with moulded chamfer. Flanking, fluted Tuscan columns on square bases
with shallow recessed panels. Entablature over, and cornice broken by
square limestone panel containing weathered coat of arms. The archway was
moved from a position nearer to the house, where it formerly served as an
entrance to a courtyard flanked on the north side by a tall kitchen wing,
demolished c1980. Flanking garden walls, c1980, not of special interest.
