WITH HOPPERTON
3/15 Ice House

GV II

Ice house. Early C19. Gritstone and brick. Large mound with retaining
wall approximately 8 metres long on north side, with central entrance to
underground chamber. C19 segmental-headed plank door with coursed,
rock-dressed stone surround. Flanking wall of large, uncoursed boulders.
Ashlar coping. Interior: narrow brick-lined passage, flight of 5 steps to
edge of deep circular brick-lined pit with domed roof.
