4/2 Rudding Gates and
flanking walls (formerly
listed under Rudding Park
8.3.52 House, stables and
Gateway, gates and flanking walls. Early C19. Possibly designed by Lewis
Wyatt for the Honourable William Gordon. Ashlar and wrought iron. Central
arch with flanking one-storey, one-bay lodges and curved walls. Tall round
arch with moulded archivolt. Flanking Ionic columns, plain entablature,
dentilled cornice and moulded blocking course. One sash window with glazing
bars to each lodge, moulded cornice and blocking course. Flat roofs.
Curved flanking walls have plain coping and square piers with shallow
pyramidal cap. They are linked to the lodges by C20 walling. Gates:
wrought iron. Arrow-headed bars, plain dog bars. Row of roundels in upper
rail. Tops ramped to make a circle with the round archway.
