Game larder. Probably late C18 for William Aislabie. Limestone rubble,
ashlar; purple slate roof. Small square single-story building built into
the ground slope. Quoins. Entrance on north side: plinth; plain board door
in wood surround; square window left. Sill band; pyramidal roof, wooden
finial. Rear: shuttered opening under keyed segmental arch. Left return:
square window, plinth and sill band extend only one third of the way across
this face. Right return: sill band continues, central window. All windows
have mesh rather than glass, for ventilation. Interior: walls lined with
hooks for hanging venison or birds. Flight of stone steps to well or spring
in rear.
