House and garden wall. 1842. Coursed squared gritstone, grey slate roof.
A square building of 2 storeys and 3 bays with cellars beneath rear rooms.
Central C20 glazed door and overlight under porch composed of 2 Ionic
columns supporting deep entablature and cornice. 8-pane casement windows to
ground floor, 15-pane sashes to first floor, all in architraves. Deep eaves
carried on wooden consoles, shallow hipped roof and side stacks with coupled
flues. Rear: late C20 door and 2 small first-floor windows, remainder
original sashes. Left return: blind window ground floor, centre, other
window as front. Right return: entrance right, now covered by C20 single-
storey addition. Interior: original 4-panel doors, staircase with waisted
balusters and ramped handrail, window shutters. Cellars: stone, 2 arched
vaults, one over well and culvert (both now covered) leading to road.
Garden wall: encloses garden approximately 30 x 20 metres on the north, east
(front) and south sides of the house. Tallest (approximately 4 metres) is
the north (south-facing) wall, with a deep ramp down to approximately 1.5
metres across the east front of the house, and lowest the south side, with
steps down to the enclosed paddock or orchard south of the house. Low
wooden gate to east side, board door north. The coping is flat, of large
slabs.
