9/22 New Bridge Cottage

GV II

House. Dated 1688, with C18 and C20 alterations. Coursed squared
gritstone, blue slate roof. 2 storeys, 3 bays. End-lobby-entry plan with
lower single-storey bay to left. Quoins. 4-panel door bay 1 with chamfered
quoined surround with deep moulded lintel inscribed:

Recessed-chamfered mullion windows throughout; of 5, 2 and 5 lights to
ground floor and 3, 2 and 4 lights to first floor. The first-floor windows
are almost twice as tall as those to ground floor. Continuous hoodmould to
ground-floor windows. Banded end stacks. Left bay: large C20 window, 4-
pane casement above. Interior: main ground-floor room has open fireplace
with bressumer beam and a large-scantling ceiling beam with fine moulding to
chamfers.
