14/27 Lodge to Swarcliffe Hall
(now Grosvenor School)
Lodge. c1850 for J G Greenwood, probably by Major Rhode Hawkins. Ashlar,
graduated grey slate roof. 2 storeys, 1 x 3 bays. Plinth. North-east
front (to drive): projecting single-storey porch to right: round arch with
impost and keystone; similar paired niches in porch right return, and in
screen wall to right of porch; impost band. To left of porch: paired sash
windows with plain stone sills and lintels. Dormer window with paired 8-
pane casements above. Moulded band above ground-floor window lintel height;
oversailing eaves, gable coping to dormer, hipped roof and 2 corniced ridge
stacks. Right return: similar dormer window.
