House. Dated 1679 but with C16 remains and mid C18 alterations. Coursed
squared gritstone, graduated stone slate roof. 2-storey, 2-bay main range
with earlier 2-storey bay to right. Quoins. Main block: central 6-panel
door under large shallow 4-centred arched lintel ornamented with a recessed
panel dated ' R ' in relief; sundial over. On each floor flanking 4-light

flat-faced mullion windows, mullions slightly recessed. End stacks. Bay to
right: C20 glazed door with very large lintel decorated with a wavy chamfer
and tied into the corner of the building as a quoin. 4-light recessed-
chamfered mullion window to left; hoodmould with one large scrolled label
stop over. First floor: window of 4 round-arched lights with chamfered
mullions and ball ornament in spandrels. Large corniced external stack to
right gable. Rear: transomed stair window with 2-light windows to left on
each floor and to right on first floor. Interior: main range: front room
left - large fireplace with single-stone jambs and lintel. Rear: the
central stair well is partitioned off from the 2 other rear rooms by timber
frame and oak panelling of late C17 type, with contemporary doors, friezes
at first-floor level of stylised leaf motifs, and splat balusters to stairs
of 2 flights. Earlier bay: large fireplace altered mid C20 but oven
