Farmhouse. Early - mid C17, altered mid C19. Red/brown brick, random bond,
purple slate roof. A square building of 2 storeys (possibly originally 3),
3 bays. Central studded plank door under round-cornered flat arch in
shallow single-storey porch having an outer segmental arch flanked by
pilasters supporting ball finials and linked by a moulded ashlar band.
Flanking and first-floor windows are sashes with glazing bars in flush wood
architraves. Hipped roof, 2 stacks to rear of ridge. Facade has evidence
of former central 2-storey porch with gabled roof (see right return) and
flanking pairs of large, probably cross windows. Rear: central C20 glazed
door, random fenestration composed of: far left - 4-light recessed chamfered
mullion and transom window to both floors, partly concealed by attached C19
service wing; small blocked circular window and 4-pane C19 window to left of
door, sash with glazing bars above; mullion and transom window of 3 lights
far right, C20 window above; 2 small 4-pane windows under eaves centre and
right. Left return: central door; a 3-light recessed chamfered mullion and
transom window to right on each floor; a similar window to left, with small-
paned window above. Blocked window above door. Right return: central 2-
storeyed porch has 6-panel door in segmental arch with blocked 3-light
recessed chamfered brick-mullioned window above. To left: a similar 3-light
mullion and transom window on each floor. To right: C20 fenestration and
attached service wing with lean-to porch. Interior: said to contain an oak
staircase with large balusters and ball finials and a panelled upper room,
not seen at resurvey.
