Church. 1864 by Crossland. Coursed squared stone with ashlar dressings,
Welsh slate roof. West tower, nave with north aisle and south porch,
chancel with north vestry. West tower: 3 stage, offset angle buttresses up
to bell stage at west end, bands between stages. Flat-headed 2-light cusped
west window with hoodmould to first stage. 2-light chamfered basket-arched
windows to second stage plus clocks to south and west. Belfry windows of 3-
lights, cusped with circle in top of pointed arch, hoodmould. Moulded
cornice, embattled parapet. Nave: 3 bays, to left a gabled porch with
moulded chamfered pointed-arched doorway, inside a board door in pointed-
arched surround. Coping and gable cross, continuous sill. To right two 2-
light chamfered, cusped traceried, pointed-arched windows, quatrefoils in
heads, hoodmoulds. Shaped modillions, stone coping, gable cross. Chancel:
continuous sill. 2 bays, to left an offset angle buttress with blind 2-
light pointed arch to gabled top. 2 chancel windows similar to those in
nave. Similar east window of 3-lights. Flat headed 2-light east window to
north vestry with cusped lights and hoodmould. Interior: 3 bay north
arcade, round piers with leaf motif capitals, chamfered pointed arches.
Similar chancel arch. Font: possibly Anglo-Saxon, round bowl shape on short
round column, 4 round panels carved on font at later date, representing the
4 apostles. Anglo-Saxon cross-head with doubled cross bars, belonging to St
Chad. C17 brass of Yorke family.
