Mile-post. Probably late C18. Gritstone. Column approximately one metre
high, square in section. Incised hands pointing in opposite directions and
lettering "TO OTLEY, TO PATELEY". Left return: pointing hand and
inscription "TO FEWSTON". Rear surface retooled and carrying the remains of
an earlier inscription "OUGH". The inscription on the rear may be the
remains of "SCOUGH", the pre C19 spelling of Scow Hall, Norwood (qv).
