Row of cottages. Early-mid C19. Part of the estate village for Sir William
Amcotts Ingilby. Coursed squared gritstone, grey slate roof. 2 storeys, 5 bays;
all gabled. Board door with ogee door-head and hoodmould right of Nos 1-3 and right
of Nos 4 and 5; chamfered mullion windows of three 4-centred arched lights
with hoodmoulds throughout, those to first floor in gables. Gable copings
and tall castellated stacks between the left 3 gables and to rear and ridge,
right. The row is similar to Town Hall Cottages (qv) and the fenestration
is copied from the tower of the Castle. The larger cottage far right was
the Police house.
