Boat-house. 1843-44. For Sir William Amcott Ingilby. Gritstone and
ashlar, iron railings. A rectangular structure built into the ground
between the castle and the lake, and facing north-west. Entrance from the
lake is through a wide cambered arch faced in vermiculated rustication with
a flat stone coping. Entrance from land is down a steep flight of stone
steps and through a plain doorway. The building silted up and not in use at
time of resurvey. See North Yorkshire Historic Gardens Register - Ripley
