Garden ornament. Roman, probably Cl AD. White marble. It represents the
bronze tripod incense burners with claw feet and circular bowl which are
depicted in Roman murals from Pompei and Herculaneum. Small figures and
paired masks stand between the legs and the bowl is decorated with sea
monsters in relief. A fluted urn stands on the top. This is probably one
of the items purchased by William Weddell during his visit to Italy in 1765.
