lodge to Kiplin Hall

Gatepiers, gate and lodge. Late C18. Ashlar and coursed rubblestone with
stone slate roofs. Wrought-iron gates. Carriage gateway flanked by walls
with pedestrian gates. Main piers rusticated on plinths with entablatures
with paterae, cornices and stepped caps. Lower side walls with end-piers
and flat-arched gateways. Scalloped gates with dog-bars, midrail, spiked
bars and curved X-motif under midrail. Side gates are similar. Lodge:
2-storey central bay with 1-storey side bays. Central bay has tripartite
window with glazing bars and impost band continuing as cornice across outer
bays. Segmental relieving arch. 6-pane sash, cornice and pediment above.
Ridge-stack. Side bays are slightly recessed and have round-headed doorways
with board doors and voussoirs, end pilasters and parapets with stone coping.
