House. Probably C16 with C20 additions and alterations. Cruck frame clad in
rendered stone and brick with some wattle and daub studding surviving; C20
interlocking tile roof. Baffle-entry plan. Single storey with attic, 3 cells,
with C20 additions to rear (not of special interest). Between left-hand bays is
a c1980 gabled stone proch with a 2-light window to left and a 3-light and a
2-light window to right, all C20 side-sliding sashes. Three C20 gabled dormers
with barge boards and finials. End stacks and one to ridge above door, all
rendered. Single-storey range attached to left end not of special interest.
Interior: of the cruck frame, the truss at the left end is visible at attic
level, with tiebeam and collar; the truss between the central and right-hand
cells is fully visible with the rear cruck on a padstone; tiebeam, collar and
part of wattle and daub infill with studs at attic level; the truss at the right
end has only the front inch visible. There is a large-scantling ridge piece.
The rear wall of the central cell has a stone plinth supporting close-studded
infill and this cell also has stop-chamfered joists and a scarf-jointed
chamfered spine beam.
