Incorrectly marked on Ordnance Survey map as Mile stone. Mile post. Late C19.
Cast iron. Triangular in plan. On left side, hand pointing left and 'HELMSLEY
9 MILES'. On right side, hand pointing right and 'YORK 14 MILES'. On the top,
'BULMER WEST H.D.'. Dates from after the Highways Act of 1888. The mile post
is ex situ, and on the wrong side of the road for the directions.
