- Spellar Park
Farmhouse, now house. Early-mid C18, probably with older origins. Coursed
sandstone, C20 pantile roofs. l 1/2 storeys and 2 storeys plus loft, 2:2 first-
floor windows. Lower range to left, ground floor from left: C20 canted bay
window; part-glazed door below 3-pane overlight and keyed lintel; first-floor
windows are dormers above blocking indicating lower openings; eaves band; cyma
recta kneeler, ashlar coping and rebuilt brick stack to left. Taller range:
plinth; first-floor band; eaves band; openings have keyed lintels; 16-pane sash
windows on ground floor; side-sliding sashes on first floor, the stonework of
which may indicate a rebuilding of earlier work; cyma reversa kneelers, ashlar
coping; brick end stacks. Rear, taller range: ground-floor openings altered,
blocked central doorway; first-floor band interrupted by landing window; first-
floor has side-sliding sash windows with projecting keystones. Windows to left
of taller range in left and right returns. Interior: taller range has dog-leg
staircase with grooved stick balusters; rear ground-floor brick fireplace con-
tains a Carron cast-iron grate discovered in situ during recent restoration
work; roof of taller range has C18 triangular trusses.
