Coach house and entrance to yard behind No 84 High Street (qv), now two shops and
workshops. Mid-late C18, with later alterations. Brick in Flemish bond, with some
ashlar dressings and part rendered; C20 pantile roof. 2 and 3-storeys, 2:1:2 bays.
Central bay of 3 storeys, slightly projecting, has carriage arch of painted ashlar
with chamfered banded rustication to jambs, impost bands, and archivolt with
tripartite keystone; dentil course at eaves level, above which rises rendered
turret, splayed at base, with 9-pane unequally-hung sash window, below band, on
which sits Diocletian window; moulded pediment on gable. Flanking bays each have,
on ground floor, a part-glazed door below 2-pane overlight on inner side, and 16-
pane sash window; and on first floor two 9-pane unevenly-hung sash windows with
ashlar sills and flat arches; dentil eaves. Hipped roof overall. End eaves stack,
also stack on rear of turret. Rear: Central bay has unpainted ashlar banded
rustication to jambs of arch, and ashlar quoins above impost band. Left return:
wall of cobbled panels between brick bands. Upper floors reached through doors
inside arch. The yard side may have been the front, but the yard elevation is
masked by later buildings (not of special interest).
