8/169 Trenholme Farmhouse
Farmhouse, mid C18 with C19 alterations. Red brick in Flemish
bond; later brick porch, some stone in rear extensions. Pantiled
roof with stone copings and kneelers, renewed brick stacks.
Corrugated asbestos roofs on side wings. 2 storeys, 3 windows with
1-storey pent side extensions. Central porch with half-glazed
4-panel door. Early C19 16-pane sashes in box frames under slightly
narrower flat gauged-brick arches; stone cills. 3-light modern
casement in right extension. 2-brick first floor band. Stepped
and cogged brick eaves cornice. End chimneys. Brick and stone
rear gabled wing later C18 with extensions to left and right of
brick and stone, the left cut down from 2 storeys to 1, with
monopitch roof. Yorkshire sashes in return gable ends.
Interior: Good staircase with closed string, grip handrail and
closely-set, finely-turned balusters with urns and square knops.
Parlour and chamber over both have cupboards, with doors of 4
fielded panels flanking fireplaces (downstairs modern, upstairs
Victorian). Doors of 4 fielded panels throughout. Original grate
in another bedroom. Floored attic below eaves level. Stout pegged
collared roof trusses with carpenters' marks.
