17.5.60 3-6 Longley House
(formerly listed as the
former St Joseph's
Former Inn, now converted into turnhouses. Mid-late C18. Pale brown local brick
with stucco dressings. Stone slate roof with coping and brick kneelers. Rebuilt
end stacks. Three storeys, 5 bays. Central entrance retains doorcase with
pilasters supporting an open dentilled pediment and patterned radial fanlight but
now contains no door. Flanking the entrance are sash windows with glazing bars in
flush wood architraves. Outer bays have Venetian windows with sashes with glazing
bars and radial glazing to centre light. 1st and 2nd floor stucco cill bands. The
same pattern of fenestration is radial glazing in the heads above entrance and with
tripartite sashes instead of Venetian windows to the 2nd floor. Stucco lintels with
keyblocks to all windows. Stucco quoins.
