Farmhouse. Dated 1624, altered probably early C19, wing to front right probably
early C18. Left wing thinly-coursed rubble, the rest rendered. Stone slate roof.
T-plan with additional wings to front right and to rear centre. Two storeys.
Single-bay projecting gabled wing to each end, two-bay house-body. Near-central
entrance with moulded surround and arched lintel above which is a plaque with
raised letters the lower part of which reads:
'JOHNMICKELTHW
AITEOWETHTHIS
HOUS ANDO1624'
Above this is a square sundial, on a corbel, without gnomon. Large 3-light
window to left and 2-light window to right, late C19. One 3-light flat-faced
mullion window to 1st-floor left of housebody. Left wing has one 4-light
double-chamfered window to each floor, both with hoodmoulds. Later doorway to left.
The roof of this wing has been raised slightly. The right wing has a 3-light
part-obscured window at low level and a 2-light double-chamfered mullion window to
lst floor and to gable apex (the latter blind). Band above lst-floor window.
Chamfered gable coping on moulded kneelers. The roof of this wing is separate from
the main range. Rear: the rear wing has C19 three-light windows. Right return:
single, 2- and 3-light windows of C19 type.
Interior not inspected.
The building was formerly the Angel Inn.
