Milestone set in south
side of southern wall
0000000d.1 enclosing Ring Wood

Milestone. Probably late C18 or early C19. Millstone grit. Post has rounded
top. Lightly-tooled surface, inscribed at the top are the Roman numerals: XV,
indicating Rotherham 15 miles.
The stone is situated on an old salt route from Cheshire. It is set in the
circular wall which encloses Ring Wood, behind the road wall.
