Statue on plinth. 1744 by J. M. Rysbrack, resited 1970. Marble. Plinth base
has acanthus-enriched moulding, die with sunken panels on each face bearing
long inscriptions, Strafford arms on rear of die. Fine statue of Thomas Wentworth,
First Earl of Strafford (d.1739) in Roman attire leaning on truncated column to
his right and with his left hand against his hip.

Moved from its original location at Stainborough Castle (q.v.) (within the grounds
of Wentworth Castle).
