2/74 Cruck barn at east side
of entrance to
Swaithe Hall Farm
Cruck barn. C16-C17. Internal timber framing, rubble sandstone. C20 tile and
felt roof coverings. Single-storey, 3 bays. Side facing farmhouse: large quoins.
Central door in wooden frame and wood-linteled opening on left. Steeply-pitched
roof. Rear: rebuilt stonework with 2 large openings on right divided by pier.
Left return: adjoining farmbuilding (not of special interest) masks partly-exposed
cruck framework, upper wall weatherboarded.

Interior: 4 pairs of cruck blades, some with 2 tie beams and with collar at apex;
wind-braced purlins.
