GV II*

Large house. 1748. By John Carr. Coursed squared stone. Welsh slate roof.
Three storeys, five bays. Symmetrical facade. Quoins. Central doorway with
moulded architrave and triangular pediment. Ground-floor windows have Gibbs
surround and 12-pane sashes. Deep band over ground floor. 12-pane sashes to
1st floor each with moulded architrave, pulvinated frieze and cornice, the
central window having swept architrave. Sill band. Shorter 2nd floor with
square 6-pane sashes and moulded architraves. Modillion eaves cornice.
Ashlar gable copings on moulded kneelers. Good ashlar gable stacks each with
moulded string course and cornice. Rear: central round-arched staircase
window to 1st and 2nd floors.
