(East side)

GV II

Detached house. Dated 1628, the hall range and left wing appear to be
totally C19 in keeping. C20 restoration. Thinly coursed squared rubble with
quoins. Stone slate roof. Lower, hall range with 2-bay gabled crosswings
giving an H-plan. Two storeys, attic to right wing. Double-chamfered
windows with hoodmoulds. The lower, hall range has a central doorway with a
2-light window to each side and a 3-light first-floor window. The left wing
has 2-light windows. The right wing has a 3-light and a 2-light window to
ground and first floors with common hoodmoulds, and a 2-light window to
attic. Hollow-chamfered gable-copings on moulded kneelers. Paired stone
brackets to hall and left wing. Ashlar stacks to left wing and each end of
hall range, all with string courses and moulded cornices. Rear: Mainly
restored. The C17 wing has altered or enlarged windows: tripartite to
ground floor and 2-light to first floor, both with decorative hoodmould
stops. 2-light window to gable apex. The windows of the hall range are C20
and square-cut. The doorway (presumably reset) has moulded surround and an
arched panel above with raised letters reading:

1628
VR NR.

The C19 wing has a plain gable end. The right return has a 3- and a 4-light
window to ground floor with common hoodmould, and an altered first-floor
window. The left return has windows of 2, 3 and 4 lights.

Interior: Flat-baluster stair at front of right wing. Square-headed moulded
fireplace in sane room.
