Farmhouse. C17, altered and extended in C18. Deeply-coursed, dressed sandstone
now partly rendered. C20 pantiles, C17 part has stone slate eaves course to old
pantile roof. L-shaped plan with 2-storey, 3-window entrance front having roadside
wing to rear left. Entrance front has door to right of centre in projecting, quoined
surround with double-chamfered window to its right. Sashes with glazing bars to
ground-floor left with two 4-pane sashes over and renewed casement to right. Garden
front (right return) incorporates, on right, C17 house front with chamfered, quoined
doorway with hoodmould continuing as dripmould above flanking double-chamfered
mullioned windows now altered and with casements. Altered 3-light mullioned window
above door retains 1 mullion and has dripstone. Shaped kneelers and gable copings.
Main body of house to left has old 4-panel door to left in chamfered, bonded surround
and two C20 casements to right. To 1st floor,a horizontally-sliding sash with glazing
bars in square-faced surround, small C20 casement to left. Gable end of entrance-front
range,to left,has kneelers and gable copings. Two brick ridge stacks. Rear of C17
house part has large C20 opening beneath intact 3-light mullioned window with iron
stanchions. Additions to rear wing not of special interest.
