5/28 The Gatehouse


Vicarage now house. Mid C18 with C19 additions. Cement-rendered walls, C20
pantile roof. Original house: 3 storeys, 3 windows to 1st floor; C19 additions
to right end with wing projecting forward and having outshut in angle. Original
house has narrowed door to left of centre with small window to its right. Flanking
sashes with glazing bars in raised surrounds. Another door to far right next to
C19 addition. Square, lst-floor openings have similar surrounds to horizontally-
sliding sashes with glazing bars; surround of central window extends upwards to
form a trefoil-headed panel. 2nd-floor outer windows insist floor, no central
window, right window has scratched inscription: "Rev-Stephen Moore. 1774/Vicar
of Brodsworth July 9th". Shaped kneelers, gable copings. Tall, brick end stacks.
Additions to right have total of 3 casements in front wall.

Interior: early C19 staircase at junction of C18 house and C19 additions. Splat-
balustraded stair to attic of C18 part.
